Made sure that 318 was ready for the high stakes quiz today since Wilfredo was out sick. The group had some workstation problems yesterday although everyone was able to complete what was needed. Carol helped a bit too since she was holding the pager.
Northwest is apparently gearing up for more Angel use, some faculty have been asking for additional access and courses created. Handled some administrative details related to this today.
Dropped off some support documentation to Polly about the (not) Stellar recovery software. We paid for this product, but it failed to work in any case where it was needed. Therefore, I spoke with the vendor regarding a refund. Their website states that there is a 30 day money back guarantee. Their support answers however are not supportive of the refund, so this may get interesting.
Carleen called regarding some ideas about where to put surveys for med students on Angel. Some students had asked for a dedicated link to surveys on the front page, but it seems that the best place is inside the individual class groups. She also had a question regarding how to create links that open new pages and was confused at the difference between content items and HTML text inside a content item. I will send Mike over next week to help her out with this.

I had been trying to recover data by using a program called File Salvage but the program kept crashing every time it got to 34 GB.

Checked the laptops in room 318 to make sure that the laptops have all the required programs for the Medical Oncology ITE Exam this Thursday and Friday.

Helped a student with a CET Form. The student had a Treo 700p PDA and for some reason he couldn’t hotsync to the Pendragon server by using the hotsync cable or by using the S-link.

Many students are having problems with Thomson Medical software. The program disappears from the PDA’s. The program license expire after 6 months, which is creating many issues for the students because some of them are not able to made it to EdTech office to get the program reinstall in their PDA.

The Palm OS Smart Phone 650 and 700p, keep freezing up. The student went back to the Verizon store to replace the phone, but the phone still freezing. I update bios in the phone but the problem continue.

The VPN campus server was down; so many students were experience problems with their VPN connection. It was affecting only the Ipsec.iupui.edu protocol, witch means that only apple users were experience the problem.

To anyone, before you decide to work with Disk Utility with Apple computer, Please backup your data to external hard drive. I spend hours trying to help a student to recovering data from a computer that the boot table was removed. I download free trail software from Apple site but it didn’t work. The student bought a software named DiskWarrior, but the software didn’t work because the boot partition was removed and the program couldn’t recover the partition in the hard drive.
